Nutritionist London

You know your job inside out. You've built a career on being reliable, prepared, composed. And then there's the part nobody at work sees - checking where the nearest toilet is before a meeting, turning down a London dinner you'd actually enjoy, wondering if today's a good gut day before you've even had breakfast.

You don't have a food problem. You have an unpredictability problem.

I'm Nuala McBride, an AfN-registered nutritionist supporting ambitious women with IBS and unpredictable gut symptoms - online, wherever you're based in London. As a London IBS Nutritionist my work isn't about handing you another food list. It's about helping you understand what's actually happening in your gut, so you can build a rhythm it can thrive on.

Explore my Gut Thrive Blueprint package.

This is for you if:

  • You've been told "it's just IBS" and left to work it out alone
  • You've tried low FODMAP, cutting out gluten, or a supplement stack - with no professional coordinating any of it
  • You're managing symptoms around your calendar, not the other way around
  • You want to trust your body again, not just avoid triggering it
  • You're tired of trial and error and ready to get this properly investigated

The Gut Thrive Blueprint is built for women managing a demanding London career alongside a gut that hasn't been getting the attention it needs.

You've tried everything. That's the problem.

Most women who come to me have already invested — books, apps, supplements, an unsupervised elimination diet or two. None of it failed because you didn't try hard enough. It failed because nobody was interpreting what your body was actually telling you.

Stacking restrictions without a clinician coordinating them doesn't get you answers. It gets you a smaller diet and the same uncertainty. You don't need another elimination diet. You need it investigated properly.

Where testing fits and where it doesn't

I only use testing where it's clinically relevant, and always alongside interpretation and a plan built around your results. If testing isn't the right next step for you, I'll tell you that too.

How we work together

Real change in a gut that's been unpredictable for months or years doesn't happen in ten days. In my experience (including my own years pre-diagnosis with coeliac disease) meaningful, lasting improvement takes proportionate time. For most women, that's a minimum of 12 weeks.

Gut Thrive Blueprint is my 3-month programme built around that timeline. Together we:

  1. Investigate what's actually driving your symptoms, not just the food on your plate
  2. Build a personalised plan around your real week - meetings, travel, gym, dinners out
  3. Adjust week to week as your gut responds, with support between sessions
  4. Reintroduce variety so you get your normal life back, not a permanently restricted one

The goal isn't a gut that never has a bad day. It's more good days than bad, and knowing why the bad ones happen when they do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a nutritionist actually help with IBS? Yes - when the approach is evidence-based and personalised. IBS symptoms are highly individual, so a generic food list rarely works. Working with a nutritionist means your triggers, history, and lifestyle are investigated properly and a plan is built around what's actually driving your symptoms.

How long does it take to see improvement? Proportionate to how long the issue has been present. Most clients need a minimum of 12 weeks to see meaningful, lasting improvements - not because progress is slow to start, but because a gut that's been unpredictable for years needs real adjustment time, not a quick fix.

What's the difference between a nutritionist and a dietitian for IBS? Dieticians are regulated by the HCPC; nutritionists can be AfN-registered, which is the recognised voluntary register for appropriately qualified nutritionist (i.e. not those who've done a 6 week course online and call themselves a Nutritionist). Registration matters more than the title - always check for AfN registration or equivalent when choosing a nutritionist for a clinical condition like IBS.

Do I need a GP referral to see an IBS nutritionist? No, but I'd always recommend ruling out other conditions with your GP first if you haven't had a formal IBS diagnosis. Once that's confirmed, you can come straight to me for the day-to-day management and plan.

Is gut or microbiome testing worth it? Only when it's clinically relevant and interpreted properly. I don't sell testing as a standalone product — if it's useful for your case, it's built into a wider plan with clinical interpretation attached. If it's not the right fit, I'll tell you.

Do you work with clients in London in person? My consultations are online, so you can work with me from anywhere in London without factoring in travel time around an already full calendar. My in-person clinic is based at Salus Wellness in Cambridge, for anyone able to attend there.
